Pet Mesh Singapore: Durable Screens for Homes with Cats & Dogs
Make room for fresh air and life with your fur kids. Explore pet-resistant insect screens for suitable HDB and condo doors and windows, planned around durability, visibility and everyday use.

What does pet mesh do for your home?
Pet mesh is a heavy-duty insect screen designed to resist everyday damage from pets while allowing air and light through. The Curtain Boutique offers GDF heavy-duty mesh and Phifer PetScreen® for suitable doors and windows in Singapore homes.
For HDB and condo owners with cats or dogs, the aim is a more durable screen that fits your home and daily routine. If you need cat containment, ask for an assessment of the complete screen assembly, including its frame, fixings, gaps and closures.

THE REAL PROBLEM
Your home should work for both of you. And the cat.
You have planned the sofa, the curtains and your cat’s favourite window spot. Then come the everyday questions: can we enjoy a breeze without inviting insects in? Will this screen stand up to curious claws? Will it look at home in our new space?
Pet-resistant screening helps you plan for those moments. Choose a mesh and opening arrangement around your routines, with a clear assessment of any pet-containment needs before installation.
WHERE IT FITS
Pet mesh for HDB and condo doors and windows
From your first BTO to a resale flat or condominium, start with the openings you use most. Sliding, folding and swing doors or windows can be assessed for compatibility. Available space, handles, tracks, fixing surfaces and exposure determine the suitable system.
Living-room windows
Plan insect screening around your everyday ventilation and your pet’s favourite lookout spot.
Bedroom and study windows
Coordinate screens with curtains and blinds so the opening remains practical to operate.
Sheltered doorways
Assess sliding, folding or swing openings, including sheltered balcony doorways. Direct-rain exposure is unsuitable.
Kitchen and service-yard openings also deserve attention in a whole-home cat-proofing assessment. Compatibility must be checked individually.
MESH OPTIONS
GDF heavy-duty mesh or Phifer PetScreen: which should you choose?
Choose around the amount of pet contact you expect, your preferred view and the complete screen design.
| Mesh option | What it offers | Consider it when |
|---|---|---|
| GDF heavy-duty mesh | Thicker yarn construction with increased tear resistance compared with standard mesh. | You want a more durable insect screen for everyday household pet contact. |
| Phifer PetScreen® | Vinyl-coated polyester engineered for resistance to pet-related tears and punctures. | Resistance to claws and more frequent pet contact is a priority. |
Material marks relate to the specified mesh, rather than the complete installed door or window system. Mesh durability is one part of the decision. The installed frame, edge retention, closures and fixing method determine whether the overall assembly meets your intended use.
EVERYDAY BENEFITS
Fresh air, fewer insect interruptions, a home that still feels like yours
More resistance to curious claws
Choose heavier-duty screening to reduce the tears that everyday pet contact can cause in standard insect mesh.
Insect screening with ventilation
Enjoy airflow through a closed screen while helping limit insects entering through the screened opening. Effective coverage depends on the weave, fit and surrounding gaps.
Keep your connection to the outdoors
Black mesh retains outward visibility, so screening can feel less visually intrusive than a solid panel. Compare samples in your own lighting.
A practical part of your renovation
Plan the screen alongside your curtains, blinds and furniture layout so handles, tracks and access work together.
Durability for daily life
Pet-resistant fabric can reduce damage-related repairs. Longevity depends on pet behaviour, exposure, care and the condition of the complete system.
Maintenance you can plan for
The system is designed for assembly and disassembly to support cleaning and servicing. Ask for the correct procedure for your installation.
OPENING OPTIONS
Choose a screen that suits how you move through your home

| Configuration | How to plan it |
|---|---|
| One-way opening | Consider where the screen should open and where it will park. |
| Centre opening | Discuss access through the middle of a wider opening. |
| Day-and-night configuration | Ask our team to demonstrate its operation and confirm which mesh and system combinations are available. |
Configuration, dimensions and lock availability vary by system. The maximum width of a mesh roll is not the maximum size of a completed installation.
PLAN FOR YOUR PET
What matters when cat-proofing a Singapore home?
For a cat or kitten, start with the whole opening: mesh, frame, perimeter gaps, fixings and closures. A fabric that resists scratching does not by itself establish the performance of the installed assembly under a cat’s weight, climbing or pushing.
Tell us your pet’s size, age and behaviour, and whether your goal is insect screening, resistance to pet damage or pet containment. Ask what evidence is available for the complete proposed system before relying on it at a high-rise opening.
AVS advises cat owners to take reasonable steps to protect cats from hazards, including roaming and falls from height. See AVS guidance on safe cat keeping.
COMPLETE YOUR HOME

Pet mesh Singapore: frequently asked questions
What is pet mesh?
Pet mesh is a durable insect-screen material designed to resist damage from pets. The Curtain Boutique offers GDF heavy-duty mesh and Phifer PetScreen for suitable door and window screening systems. The right choice depends on your pet, opening size and how you use the space.
What is the difference between pet mesh and mosquito mesh?
Mosquito mesh is primarily selected to screen insects. Pet-resistant mesh adds greater resistance to claws and everyday pet wear. Neither the name “pet mesh” nor the fabric specification alone proves that an installed screen can contain a cat; frames, edges, fixings and closures also matter.
Is pet mesh suitable for cats and kittens?
Pet-resistant mesh can be useful in homes with cats because it resists claw damage. For containment, every accessible gap and the complete installed system must be assessed for the individual cat or kitten. Do not rely on this page as confirmation that a screen is a fall-prevention barrier.
Can pet mesh prevent a cat from falling out of a window?
Do not assume that scratch-resistant mesh is a fall-prevention system. Before using a screen at a high-rise opening, ask for evidence that the complete installed assembly is suitable for pet containment. If that evidence is unavailable, use a separately suitable barrier and keep unsafe openings inaccessible.
Can pet mesh be installed in an HDB flat or condominium?
Suitability depends on the opening, available fixing surfaces and how the door or window operates. Share photos of your HDB or condo with our team for an assessment. Check the applicable property and management requirements before proceeding; suitability does not imply blanket approval.
Does pet mesh keep mosquitoes and insects out?
Pet mesh provides insect screening when it is closed, undamaged and properly fitted. Results depend on the weave and on gaps around the frame, tracks and edges. Very small insects may require a different mesh specification. It is not a guarantee against every insect or mosquito-borne disease.
Will pet mesh block airflow or the view?
Mesh allows air and light through, and the black mesh options retain outward visibility. Any screen reduces the openness of a bare opening. Ask to view samples so you can compare the balance of durability, ventilation and visibility before choosing.
Can pet mesh be installed on balcony doors?
A sheltered balcony doorway may be suitable after assessment of the opening, exposure and fixing details. The brochure states that this system is not suitable for direct rainfall. It should not be treated as a balcony perimeter barrier or a replacement for an appropriate safety barrier.
Is pet mesh scratch-proof or indestructible?
No screen should be described as indestructible. Pet-resistant materials are designed to reduce damage from claws and everyday contact, but persistent chewing, force, damage or an unsuitable installation can compromise the screen. Inspect the mesh and its fittings regularly.
How much does pet mesh installation cost in Singapore?
Pricing depends on the number and size of openings, mesh choice, screen configuration, access and installation requirements. Send photos, approximate measurements and your property type for a quotation. Tell us whether you have cats, kittens or dogs and whether containment is part of your requirement.
How do I clean and maintain pet mesh?
Ask our team to demonstrate the approved cleaning and removal procedure for your selected system. Remove surface dust gently and inspect the mesh, frame edges, tracks and closures regularly. If you find tears, loose fixings or gaps, keep pets away from the opening until the issue is resolved.
When should I arrange pet mesh for a new home or new cat?
Plan your assessment during renovation or before bringing your pet home. Share your key collection or adoption date, window and door plans, and curtain or blind arrangements early. This makes it easier to coordinate the screen position, access and installation sequence.
