Authentic Ziptrak® from Australia
The use of zip blinds for balconies and patios have been increasing over the past few years due to it’s obvious benefits. With over 30 years in the industry, Ziptrak® is a premium zip blind hailing directly from Australia. This patented design attaches the blind material (be it clear PVC or mesh) to their Spline Tape which is then directly wielded to the front and back of the fabric/PVC material to ensure higher durability.
Why Ziptrak®
No cords, no crank. Ziptrak® system uses a spring balance which is within the end bar itself. This means there will be no dangerous cords and not having to deal with rusty cables. The unique system helps hold the weight of the blinds, making it easy to lift or pulled down.
Hold strong winds without rattling
Ziptrak®’s patented side spline is welded onto the both sides of the fabric, enabling the system to withstand static wind loads of up to 260km/hr*. Experience a smooth, wrinkle-free blind that lasts for years.
*Tested locally by TUV SUD PSB in Singapore.
Most Zip blinds system are completely motorised and/or requires a fixed panel. Our genuine Ziptrak® is able to create a built in blind without any fixed panel and it is perfect for L, U or even Z shaped balcony.
Protect your family members and furniture from the harmful effects of UV rays, heat, rain, and insects. Ziptrak® is able to block up to 90% of UV rays and meets the Melanoma International Foundation standard in effectively preventing sun damage to the skin and eyes.

Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Ziptrak® is the original track-guided blind system invented in 1999 and popularised track guided systems.
With a track record of over 20 years, Ziptrak® is the number one brand of outdoor track-guided blinds in Australia because the product has shown itself to be effective, reliable and durable. Businesses like hotels and restaurants rely on Ziptrak® blinds for their durability and strength.
Ziptrak® pioneered the SuperSpring manual system, which allows users to move blinds easily and quickly. There are no cords, cranks or pulleys required. Simply push or pull the bottom bar to leave it at any height. For those looking to have motorised blinds, Ziptrak® can also be motorised, with a choice of motors from Somfy or Dooya.
Ziptrak® blinds also feature the patented side spline, which holds the fabric in the track more securely than others. Using a Cordura fabric for the spline, the fabric is then high-frequency welded (not heat welded) to both sides of the fabric, covering a whopping 23mm of fabric surface area, on both sides. Our extremely strong side spline helps to reduce the likelihood of jamming and ensures a smoother operation even in windy conditions, and is one of the reasons why Ziptrak® is one of the toughest systems in the market.
Ziptrak’s dedication to innovation is apparent in its continued push to make the blind stronger, more durable and lower maintenance.
One of our most recent innovations includes the “PestOut Pelmet”, which features a brush insert, which brushes & cleans your blind fabric every time you move it. It also prevents flying insects from entering and building nests in the pelmet.
If you have a wide balcony, you’ll be happy to know that our Ziptrak® PanoView blinds can go up to 6m wide, even for high-rise developments. That means you can have a single blind, with no post in between obstructing your view.
These are just some of the excellent and unique features that set Ziptrak® apart.
When choosing Ziptrak®, it’s important to ensure you’re getting the authentic system with all of its engineered benefits. Here’s how you can be sure:
- The Curtain Boutique is a CaseTrust-accredited, authorised retailer of genuine Ziptrak® systems in Singapore.
- Our quotations and invoices clearly indicate the Ziptrak® brand – no generic alternatives or imitation systems.
- All Ziptrak® systems installed by our team come with verified components and brand-certified workmanship.
As a pioneer retailer since 2017, we’ve helped thousands of homeowners enjoy the full benefits of genuine Ziptrak® systems – installed to specification, with lasting performance in mind.
If you’re unsure whether a system you’ve seen is genuine, feel free to contact our team for advice. We’re happy to help you identify the key differences.
Yes. For manual blinds, the bottom bar can be locked into position with two locks at the bottom left and bottom right, in order to keep the blind fully down and secured in high winds. If you are outside of the outdoor area and you would like to be able to unlock the blind, ask your retailer for a “reverse lock” addition to your centre-lock-release system. This will allow you to operate the centre-lock-release which faces the inside of your entertaining area, even when you are on the outside.
These locks are not designed for use as a security measure. The blind system should not be used as barriers for babies or children. Do note that the centre-lock-release mechanism is not child-proof.
If you have a motorised blind, you do not need a lock, as the blind can only be moved by the motor.
They are made of aluminium, with a powder-coated finish. With high-quality aluminium components and stainless steel screws, your Ziptrak® outdoor blinds will stay rust-free, and endure even the harshest outdoor conditions.
It depends on the blind fabric that you choose. Porous fabrics do not provide a significant reduction of external noise. For ClearView® PVC, preliminary tests at one test site with high traffic noise have indicated a 30% reduction in external noise (5 to 6dB), resulting in a noticeable difference.
Ziptrak® blinds are very effective in keeping in cold air, but they should not be expected to keep in cold air completely. The amount of cold air that Ziptrak® will preserve will depend on the type of fabric that you choose.
Cold air will escape more easily with porous weave fabrics (estimated up to 40%). On the other hand, non-porous fabrics do not allow air to pass through and will be much better at preserving the cold air within the area. Non-porous materials like ClearView® are popular amongst restaurant owners, who wish to keep their patrons cool while allowing them to enjoy the view.
Ziptrak® blinds are very effective in keeping out the rain, but it does not guarantee 100% water tightness. For track-guided blinds, the amount of rain protection will be largely determined by the fabric you choose. When there is little to no wind, most of the rainwater will simply flow down the exterior surface of the blind and onto the ground.
Porous weave fabrics will allow more water to pass through, especially when there is a strong and direct wind blowing against the blind. Non-porous fabrics will not allow water to pass through, thereby offering better rain protection. However, in heavy rain and windy conditions, some water may still enter via the Ziptrak® system.
Our PanoView® blinds refer to a type of Ziptrak® outdoor blind that consists of two sections, which are joined at the site to form a single frame without a centre post. This allows homeowners with wide balconies to enjoy unobstructed views.
This innovative method allows us to install very wide blinds of up to 6m widths in high-rise apartments, instead of having multiple narrow blinds. Most elevators and stairwells of high-rise buildings in Singapore can only accommodate blinds of up to 3.4m in width, which effectively limits the width of the blind that can be transported up and installed. This is no longer an issue for homeowners who purchase Ziptrak® blinds, as our retailers can transport the blind up in two sections and join it at the site.
Yes. The PanoView® system was designed and introduced by Ziptrak Pty Ltd and Durablinds Trading Pte Ltd (DBT), in response to the unique needs of the Singapore market.
This innovative solution has gone through extensive R&D and testing, to ensure that it is sturdy in high winds, and features the durability and quality that all Ziptrak® blinds are known for. To our knowledge, there is no other blind that can go up to 6m wide for high floors.
PanoView® is a registered trademark in Singapore.
Ziptrak’s PanoView® blinds can cover spaces of up to 6m wide and 3.4m high, for both manual and motorised systems.
Do note that for high-rise apartments, factors that affect the maximum width and height of the installation, such as the dimensions of the elevator and stairwell, will need to be considered. We advise booking a consultation with one of our authorised retailers if you require taller installation.
It will depend on the size of the blind required. For example, for balconies that are between 3.2m to 4.8m wide, a single PanoView® blind tends to be more cost-effective than two standard blinds (which comes with a post in between).
Yes, Ziptrak’s PanoView® blinds can be motorised. Best of all, now that you can have one wide blind (instead of multiple narrower ones), you’ll only need one motor. That’s extra savings for you!
Ziptrak® blinds can be easily operated with one hand, regardless of size, due to the patented Ziptrak® spring-balanced system.
The weight of the fabric is borne by the Ziptrak® SuperSpring®, which means the blind remains light in your hands. SuperSpring® comes in different sizes, and each blind is matched with the appropriate SuperSpring® component, so that it remains light to operate, regardless of size.
For blinds that are wider than 4m, there will be a slight deflection. This is common even in traditional cabled systems or any track–guided system. This deflection at the bottom bar will actually help to straighten the fabric, when the blind is in a partially open position.
Ziptrak® blinds have gone through extensive R&D to ensure that they hold up well in extreme weather conditions.
In recent wind load tests conducted by TÜV SÜD PSB, Ziptrak’s PanoView® blinds were proven to be able to withstand a static load equivalent to wind speeds of 260km/hr, for a 2m by 2m blind. This test demonstrates the robustness of Ziptrak® blinds. Do note that fabrics can still become stretched in extremely high winds. To minimise this, we recommend that the blinds be fully retracted in severe weather conditions.
This will depend on the height or width of the blind that’s required, versus the roll width of the selected fabric. For example, if the height of the installation is 3000mm or below, and the fabric selected has a roll width of 3000mm, you will not have any joint lines. Most of our fabric selections are in rolls of 3000mm.
If the height or width of the blind exceeds the width of the fabric roll, two pieces of fabric will be joined to make a single piece. A fabric joint will be of the same colour and material; the opaque 20mm joint will only be slightly visible, and the joint line will be very neat.
All Ziptrak® outdoor systems sold and installed by The Curtain Boutique are covered under a product warranty for manufacturing defects, provided by the official distributor in Singapore. This includes:
- Ziptrak® system components (e.g. tracks, spring mechanism, brackets)
- Recommended fabrics, which come with limited coverage against defects
In addition to the product warranty, The Curtain Boutique provides our own service warranty – covering installation workmanship, system calibration, and on-site servicing. If you ever experience any issues or have questions about your system, simply contact our Customer Care team. We’ll assist with assessment, coordination of parts if needed, and provide support based on your coverage.
When confronted with strong wind affecting your motorised blind, it may trigger the obstacle detection feature designed to safeguard your blind fabric from potential damage. Here’s what you can do if you encounter this situation:
- Apply pressure at the center of the fabric to alleviate tension on the side splines.
- Allow the strong wind to diminish naturally.
- Reduce the wind tunnel effect by closing your balcony sliding door before attempting to close the motorised blind again.
Following these steps can help mitigate the impact of strong winds on your motorised blind system and ensure its proper functioning.
Yes, it’s possible to switch between manual and motorised Ziptrak® blinds after installation.
- Changing from manual to motorised involves dismantling the blind, replacing the SuperSpring® with a motor, reinstalling the blind, and connecting it to a power source.
- Changing from motorised to manual requires removing the motor, installing an appropriately sized SuperSpring®, and reinstalling the blind.
As the process can vary based on your setup and site conditions, please contact our team for a detailed assessment and quotation.
We provide a customised solution for mounting Ziptrak® blinds. Generally, we will be able to install onto wood, steel, brick and concrete surfaces. If you are in an area susceptible to high winds or are looking for a very robust installation, make a note to request that stainless steel rivets be used to fix the track to the bracket channel.
Many Ziptrak® blinds have been installed in Singapore homes, to provide a fully protected living space. Since Ziptrak® became available in Singapore, track-guided blinds have become a very frequent sight at balconies, patios and roof terraces, especially in condominiums, across the island.
If you live in a condominium, do check with your Managing Agent (MA) or MCST, on the type of installations they allow and the colours they’ve specified for blinds.
Yes, you can. Ideally, invisible grilles should be installed just within the railing, leaving at least 50mm of tiled kerb space for the installation of Ziptrak® blinds.
If you are not installing invisible grilles with us, do let your selected invisible grille installer know that you will be installing blinds so that they can leave adequate space on the railing kerb for the Ziptrak® installation.
If there isn’t enough space on the kerb to accommodate the blinds, your we may be able to install a kerb extension. Kerb extensions will not be necessary if you have or intend to install decking. Do discuss your options with our team!
It’s best to install invisible grilles first, as the presence of blinds may hinder the installation of invisible grilles.
Let us know, so that we can leave a minimum space of 30mm to allow for future installation of invisible grilles.
Both are possible. We recommend installing Ziptrak® blinds first so that the decking and blinds remain independent of each other. The decking can be done in a way that accommodates the posts and tracks.
If your decking company can contour the wood to follow the outline of the installed vertical Ziptrak® posts and track, this would be ideal.
It is important that the top surface of the decking is levelled. This is because the bottom bar of the Ziptrak® system will be levelled. If the decking follows the natural water gradient of the balcony (usually a slight diagonal angle), there will be a slight gap between the bottom bar and the decking, when the blinds are closed.
Yes, Ziptrak® blinds can be installed on top of the decking; although a concrete surface is preferred.
To prevent future changes to the decking from affecting the blinds, do check in with us for the blinds to remain independent of the decking during your site consultation.
Ziptrak® blinds can be installed in an area as narrow as:
- 450mm for a manual system with a maximum height of 2600mm for widths below 600mm, and
- 800mm for a motorised system.
For anything narrower, a fixed fabric panel can be installed to provide protection from the elements. Do note that this panel will not be movable.
To ensure an installation that’s strong and sturdy, even in high wind conditions, all tracks are affixed to posts or walls. For corner or angled installations, in particular, the tracks will be affixed to a post at the corner.
If you prefer not to have a post, a removable post can be an option. To lower your blinds, simply slot the post back in place, and then lower your blinds. Do note that removable posts are only recommended with manual blinds and on ground floor units.
Most canopies are sturdy enough to support the installation of Ziptrak® blinds.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to mount Ziptrak® blinds onto a retractable awning. However, a workaround would be to have a fixed steel frame installed under the retractable awning. It should also be independent of the awning. The Ziptrak® blinds can then be mounted onto this frame. Do note that there will be a gap between the retractable awning and the frame that the pelmet is mounted to. Therefore, some water may enter through that gap during rainstorms.
It is possible to install onto false ceilings, and we may reinforce the ceiling prior to installation. Ziptrak® blinds can also be mounted to other concrete surfaces like the wall if the ceiling is not suitable. We will be able to better advise you after a site consultation.
Motors offered with Ziptrak® blinds offer two protection mechanisms – obstacle detection and heat sensors.
Motors equipped with obstacle detection will also halt operation when it detects pressure against the blinds. This includes wind pressure. When this happens, simply wait for the wind to relent before operating your blinds again. Do refrain from trying to operate the blinds continuously, as the heat sensor will kick in to avoid motors from overheating.
The motor is designed to be operated continuously for up to 4 minutes. Beyond that, the motor will stop functioning for about 15 – 20 minutes to prevent the motor from overheating and allow it to cool down. If the blind cannot be operated after 20 mins, do contact your retailer for assistance.
